Restaurant Le Rivage

Discover Le Rivage restaurant, located in Grand Bois, at the gateway to the wild south and just 10 minutes from Saint-Pierre, and immerse yourself in a cuisine that combines local produce and the treasures of the sea.

From starters to desserts, we invite you to discover a cuisine with tropical flavors, combining traditional recipes from Réunion Island and elsewhere..

To ensure that your trip to the South of France is a gourmet experience, Le Rivage restaurant offers a range of flavors that is well worth the detour, as are its dishes featuring local produce.

Restaurant opening times :

• 12:00 to 2:30 pm (last order taken 45 minutes before closing time)
• 7pm to 10pm (same for last order)

Remember to reserve your table with the restaurant.

Bar

Our bar is open 7 days a week from 11am to 10pm.

Local cocktails, aperitifs and snacks are available outside restaurant hours.

Breakfast

• Our buffet breakfast is served in the restaurant from 7am to 10am.

In Grand-Bois, in the south of Reunion Island, the Exsel Victoria hotel overlooks the Indian Ocean. The 31 rooms, delicately set on a sheer cliff, offer a magical immersion in an unspoilt environment.

Just 10 minutes from the center of Saint-Pierre and at the gateway to Réunion’s wild south, the hotel is the ideal place to reconnect with your loved ones, with nature and with yourself. Relax in our swimming pool overlooking the Indian Ocean, a change of scenery guaranteed.

As part of Exsel Nature’s eco-responsible program, the Exsel Victoria has been awarded the Clé Verte label.

A little history

According to certain writings, Grands Bois appears to have been one of the first occupied settlements in the south of the island. It is therefore said that the first inhabitants settled here as early as the beginning of the 18th century, even though concessions were granted in the “Rivière d’Abord” district.

Nevertheless, this occupation remained relatively confidential until the
construction of the sugar factory. The neighborhood only developed once the sugar industry was up and running around 1833-1834.

At first, the need for labor brought in mainly slaves, then in 1848, indentured laborers (Indians, Rodriguans, Madagascans and Comorians) began to populate the neighborhood. For more than a century, the neighborhood grew up around and for its sugar factory… which provided the rhythm of life for an entire population until its closure in 1991.

Did you know that?

• The Exsel Victoria Hotel is the only Whale Watching Center on the island!
• Exsel Hotels is a long-standing partner of the CEDTM (Centre d’Etudes et D’observations Terrestres et Marines) team. The hotel has been designated as a pilot site for Exsel Nature’s commitment to whales, and for the Quiétude des cétacés project on Reunion Island.
• The lower part of the hotel, on the edge of the ocean, was for a long time the landing strip for the hotel’s former owner’s helicopter.
• The DEMOTEL diving spot, formerly known as the Victoria***, is one of the most renowned on the island.

You can collect your room from 2pm.

Check-out

You must leave your room before 11am.

Late check-out is available at an additional cost and must be booked in advance with reception.

We have a luggage room where you can leave your luggage at reception.

Laundry

A laundry service is available on request and at an additional cost.

Swimming pool

The swimming pool is open 7 days a week from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Pool towels available on request.

Transport & parking

You can park in our secure outdoor parking lot.

Jogging, hiking, soccer and petanque trails are close to the hotel, starting from the seaside path.

Water fountain

As part of our Exsel Nature CSR initiative, we have chosen to do away with plastic water bottles in our rooms. A micro-filtered, cold or tempered water fountain is available at reception.

Change of sheets, towels and room cleaning

Help us preserve our island!

SuperGreen program:

Are you staying at our hotel for 2 nights or more? By dispensing with the cleaning service in your room, we’ll save water resources and reduce the amount of cleaning products we use. All you have to do is hang the door hanger provided in your room on your door handle. As a thank you, we’ll be pleased to offer you a surprise.

Towel change:

We change your towels only if you put them in the shower or bath. Your sheets are not changed every day, unless you request it.

Air conditioning

You can adjust the temperature in your room using the air-conditioning remote control. If necessary, please contact reception. To activate air-conditioning, press the “mode” button until appears.

Please set the air-conditioning to 24°C at the coolest setting, and use the air-conditioning only with the doors and windows closed. When you leave your room, turn off the air conditioning. Follow our ecogestures and help us protect the environment!

Shampoo and shower gel

We offer a range of eco-labelled shampoos and soaps, because it’s good for you, and good for the environment! We buy them in bulk to reduce our plastic consumption.

Alarm clock

You can contact reception to program your alarm clock (telephone call).

Electrical outlets

The hotel’s electrical voltage is 220 V/50 Hz. Adapters are available at reception if required.

Extra pillow and blanket

Pillows and blankets are available in the room wardrobe or on request from reception.

Safe (superior rooms and suites)

Superior rooms and suites are equipped with a safety deposit box.

To program your personal code :

• With the door open and the bolts retracted, press the red button on the back of the door.
• Enter your personal code (between 3 and 8 digits).
• Press B.
• Your code has been memorized.

Closing :

• Keep the door closed.
• Enter your personal code.
• Press A then turn the handle anticlockwise.

Opening :

• Enter personal code.
• Press A then turn the handle clockwise.

At the end of your stay, please leave the door open.

The management declines all responsibility for valuables or cash left in the room.

Spa (suites)

Please take a shower before entering your spa.

Please pay attention to the water filter. Place yourself in the corners of the spa for perfect
comfort.

Recommended temperature: 37°C.

After use, please replace the cover and seal the fasteners
and seal the fasteners.

Safety and fire precautions

Dear customers, please observe the following instructions.
You will be held responsible for any damage.

• Do not smoke in your room or spa, and do not carry or bring near any sharp objects (suites)
